I've had a three year old sharpei for about 2-3 months and since I've had he
she's had ear problems. she's been to the vet a few times but nothing seems
to be working. Her ear seems to have a black discharge inside of it that
dries if I don't remove it. If I pres behind her ear, there's also a
squelching sound as though there's a pocket of this stuff (whatever it is).

It's obviously hurting her as she walks with her head to the one side,
shakes her head a lot, scratches her ear, etc. It doesn't hurt her for me to
press behind her ear, however. Indeed, it seems to offer her some relief.

Anyone have any idea what it is and how I can treat it. I am awaiting some
lab tests on the discharge but in the meantime I hate to see her suffering.
