Hi,

my grey, has been cut some feathers by a vet when he was a few months old,
so he can't fly.

We decided that we leave all the feathers as in nature. So the left wing is
grown normally now.

But at the right wing, there was a problem 2 years ago, old tiny pieces of
feathers still sticked in the wing, so he started biting them. The vet
removed (teared) them, so finally there was 'space' for new feathers.

But now, everytime when 2 or 3 new feathers 'try to grow', our grey just
bytes them as well until they are totally useless and awfully to see so we
tear them out as well (just as the vet did).

What can we do about it?

Just leave them alone and don't show any concern or fuss over the
feather biting. See how you go.

I have a 1 1/2 year old gray that shaves off half of each feather - I
believe it is the inside half so you can't tell when she is just
sitting. But when she flaps you can see what she has been up to.

I am offering all the toys she enjoys and rotate them to keep her
attention away from her feathers.

I am trying to keep her busy with other activities so she leaves her
feathers alone.

Right. I believe that I should get another parrot to keep her busy. :)
