MS: Our ferret was about 10 weeks old when we got him. He's now about 4
years old. When he was very young, less than a year, he was never
interested in being held or cuddling. As he aged, however, he gradually
became a bit calmer and actually liked to be scratched and petted. Lately
he's even started liking taking a bath. However, playtime is still playtime
and keeps running until he get tired, maybe in a hour or so. Mostly its the
heat (us people like ambient temps in the mid 70s F) that causes him to
retreat to his nests in the cooler basement. For the most part, our ferret
wants us mainly as playmates. Your mileage may differ, but the best advice
is to pour on the love and don't try to train him. If he misbehaves too
much, put him back in his pen for the evening. - CW
