New ferret

Hi,

I'd just like to know if it is possible to get a ferret to sleep and relax
on me after some playtime or something.
I know that young ferrets and quite active (mine's 3+ months old) but he
doesn't seem to know how to relax when I take him out of his cage. He could
be out 4-5 hours and would still be running around the room doing the same
things over and over ! ! !

Can someone tell me something interesting about this ?

Also, for some places he is not supposed to go, what can be done to train
him ? I take him by the skin of the neck, shake a little bit like his
mother does, and tell in a strong voice "non" then put him in his
"punishment ball" for 10-15 minutes.... But doesn'T really seem to work he
keeps on going back and back...

its is possible it just takes time , at 3 months he will be really
lively having far more energy than you , you need to pick him up and
cuddle him when hes tired and you will find he will eventually snuggle
in if hes not tired as far as hes concerned its play time


You cant train a ferret not to go somewhere they are naturally
inqusitive little beasties , if hes not allowed somewhere barrier it
off and make it ferret proof , remember they are fantastic climbers and
can scrabble through holes less than 30mm they can jump quite some
distance too and are incredably strong for thier size (mine can move
large stereo speakers)


You shold not shake him , his mothers technique has been developed over
tens of thousands of years you with all the good will you have will
never mimic this , shouting at him s pointless to he only speaks ferret
..

punishment balls are poinless he sees them as a toy

If he is chewing things put bitter apple around the area , cuople of
chews on that will discourage him
