A while back we did a count on RabbitVet of rabbit ages. I don't know what
the outcome was. What I would like to do is to do is to do a survivorship
curve. It is kind of hard to explain why I want to do one. I guess the
easiest explanation is trying to deal with the loss of a young rabbit. When
Toofer died, I felt like he had been cheated out of all of those years. He
should have lived to at least 10. I had so much guilt that something I had
done, or hadn't done, had robbed him of those years.
What I want to do is to chart the ages of pet rabbits (Sorry, D, cottontails
not included). I thought I would combine our rabbits' ages with the results
on RabbitVet and construct the curve. If everyone (including lurkers) would
post their rabbits' ages here or email the ages to me at acaudle.DeleteThis@gate.net it
will be most appreciated. If the rabbit is less than two years, give the
approximate age in months. If more than two years, give the age in years.
If you know, you can also give the breed and gender. That will be some good
information.
To start things off -- Jessie, NZ white (mix?) female, 2 years
Quark, California mix male, 7 months

Anita, I know how you feel about losing a young rabbit. Rocky was about 3
years old when he left us. I blamed myself for a long time and sometimes
still do. He was so young there should have been something I could have
done. We let Libby go at the age of 9 years old. There may have been more we
could have done for her but it wouldn't have been fair to her.
As for the others here are their ages:
Jasmine is 4 yrs old (5 in May) - lop mix
Bear is 5 yrs old - lop
Chloe is 5 years old - lop
Moe is roughly 6 yrs old (shelter said he was 2 when we got him but he
either started to show his age at a young age or he was older than they said
when we got him) - holland lop

Anita,
what you want to do is VERY interesting....and I can understand that it is
difficult when we look back and think about one of our pets...gone before it
was "time to go"...:(
I live following the "Carpe Diem" motto.....
Pepe (male Holland lop) 5 years old this month
Sissy(female Hotot mix ,dwarf) approximately 3 years old(?) not sure...since
the rescue wasn't sure...but she looks "youngish"
Sophie(female English Angora)3 months old
Hope this helps...:)

Anita I think it's wonderful that you are doing a bit of research in the
hope of helping people cope with the loss of a young pet, or any pet for
that matter.
I lost my precious Dunlop on the 14th December at just 8 months old and I'm
still hurting like hell and finding it hard to cope. Dunlop was 8 months
old.
Daphne is a non-pedigree bunny, sometimes a lop and somtimes not - she's 6
months.
Do you want the ages of previous bunnies that have gone over the bridge or
just those still with us?
