| I have had my rabbit for about 2 years. Our relationship is not as loving as I would like. It is hard to hold her and to make her want to receive attention from me. I give her toys and nice treats but she will take them and run away allowing me to only pet her momentarily, I dont understand this. She is a very calm rabbit never biting on her cage or hyper. What could be wrong can someone tell me how to develop a relationship with my rabbit. If I cannot I will be forced to give her away. Something I dont want to do.

My rabbit Toby hates to be held, but loves attention. If I lie on the
floor and scratch with my fingers he comes running and will nuzzle.
When he's on the 2nd storey of his hutch and the front is open, I can
rub my cheek against his, and then lower my head and he'll groom me!
If I pick him up and try to hold him in my lap, I run the risk of
rolling on the floor holding my balls... 'cause he'll thump me with his
hind feet.
He's a loving pet, but he also has the mentality of a prey animal (what
rabbits are). A predator (dog, cat) can relax and cuddle in your lap.
They're the hunter not the hunted. For a rabbit, it's very different.
They aren't wired that way.
If you learn a bit more about how rabbits see the world, I think you'll
become happier with your relationship with your rabbit. I bet she's
showing all kinds of affection to you that you aren't noticing.

why you have to force to give your rabbit away? 99% rabbits dont like to be
pick up, i have 10 right now and none of them like it at all, but i love
them all and accept there independent, you have to remember that rabbits are
difference then dogs and cats, they have there own way to shows, they love
and happy to be with you.

I have some experience with laying on the floor. When I first got Maxwell I
hadnt a clue how to treat rabbits, so down on the floor I went. I fed him
treats while down there, I petted him, I played with him. I think its so
much more comfortable for them to have you be down on the floor rather than
standing over them, looming like a tower.
Find out what his favorite treat is and give it to him while spending time
on the floor together. He'll come around. Reading all you can about
rabbits can only help too. Some rabbits have a mind of their own and will
only do things their way. Maybe you got an independent minded rabbit thats
a genius?

She would rather sit beside you than be held, get down on the floor and ignore
her untill she comes to you, read a book or something. Give her a head rub,
from the nose up to the ears with the back of your hand, thats what bunnys like
as they are not keen on body rubs.
Spend lots of time on the floor with your bunny and things will get better :)

This is what I was thinking. My bunnies don't let me cuddle them much
either. HOwever if i lay down on the floor they love to come up and
sniff noses and be friendly. You could also try a trick Arlette taught
me. Hold a cranberry with your lips so it sticks out and they will come
and take it and give you a kiss. Their wiskers are so sweetly tickly.
It's really nice right after you give them mint to eat.

Don't do this with chocolate! Jump went tooth to tooth with
me to make sure that he got as much as he could get. He was
not shy. His teeth are much harder than mine. I was Quite
startled and only did this once. ;) LOL
