If endangered fishes are seized during importation, what will happen
to the fish after the confiscation and the legal proceddings? Will FWS
sekk them or give them away?

Endangered fish cannot be collected or kept without proper documentation.
That documentation is only issued to universities, zoos, and some research
facilities.
Confiscated fish must be given to an entity that has the right
documentation. They will not be sold or given away, especially to a
hobbyist or retail operation. If the fish were seized for a reason other
than it being endangered, such as illegal in the jurisdiction or undeclared
on import, it could be handed over to a pre-determined 'foster' home.
Nice thought but wishful thinking.

When I was at University, we were the "depot" for the endangered, abused,
etc (Illegal to own, or removed because they were being mistreated) reptiles
and fish in the state. We had a huge room set up as a herpetarium/aquarium,
with everything ranging from itty bitty tree frogs to 12 foot alligators.
had a bunch of fish too - salt and freshwater, but I don't remember what all
was there... Its been a while....

I don't think the "general public" has much chance of getting onto the list
of recipients. I think that all they allow is zoos, research universities,
etc......
