I have a beagle who suddenly had just one bout of very watery, mucus
stool with blood. It was 95% red with the odd mucus green color to
it. No foul smell.

There is no urgency to defecate. She is eating well and has been
regularly going to relieve herself on a daily basis.

Should I be worried? I'm going to feed her like usual for the next 48
hours and monitor her progress.

Is this an acute case of colitis?

Thanks

.............Good, and if it happens again, take in a fresh stool sample for
analysis. I'm guessing she got into something. What color was the blood -
bright red? How odd a green was it? Apparently some of the rat baits turn
poop electric green. Keep checking her gums for anemia (pink is good, pale
is not; capillary refill - press on gums, white spot should turn pink again
in a couple of seconds.) If you have any question at all about whether this
dog ate rat bait, take her to the vet ASAP.
