It's down in the 30s and sometimes colder at night.

Our Saint Bernard prefers to spend most of the night hours outdoors. Wow,
what a winter coat!

You'd be out there, too, if you couldn't take your fur coat off in the
heated house! I've noticed that our nekkid dog likes to sunbathe when
it is warmer and our heavily furred dogs like to bask in the cold when
there is no sun and on cold tile indoors when the sun is out. The
poodle is in the middle, usually preferring however the humans have it
in the house. I would call you a dog abusing thug for making your dog
sleep outside in the freezing cold, but I don't want to get on the
wrong side of a Saint Bernard!

LOL!

When we had our cold snap here, he was *so happy.* Leaping around,
spinning, jumping. A sight to see, when a 170-lb dog does that. Even
though it rained, he was outdoors most of the time by choice. He has a dog
door so he can go in and out.

He likes to be outside at night and talk to - bark at - the dogs that live
about 150 yards down the road. He barks. They bark. He barks. Etc. I
used to get him back into the house after a bit of that and lock him in, but
he loves the cold so much I haven't had the heart to do it lately.

He has dug a shallow, contoured hole in the yard that he naps in.

If Khan could, he'd do the same. Two nights ago, dork boy asked to go out.
Then, when he was taken out, he just plopped down and gave Rajesh the 'You
may leave now' look. Too bad he's got a paranoid, eeevil mommy who likes to
torture him, 'cause I ended up asking Mr. Fuzzy Bottom to get himself
inside, and forced him to sleep in the bedroom.

I'll bet he loves it!

Dylan (a long-haired GSD) loved the snow. She'd curl up on the
deck in the middle of a snowstorm. When I'd ask her to come in,
she'd merely turn her white-encrusted head and give me 'the look'
- "Are you crazy? I'm finally comfortable!"

Mean Mom did make Snow Dog come inside overnight, however.

How do you know if your dog is cold? - In addition to your opinion, coming near the people is a sign of feeling cold. My dog often comes near me only in winter. But dogs are basically strong to the cold, you need not think too deeply unless your dog have any disease.
