Well Cupar Garden Pet and Aquatic Centre, Cupar Trading Estate, Cupar, Fife, KY15 4SX Tel. 01334 655766/655792 Fax 01334 655420 bred it and should know better. I just bought the thing, didn't even know there was such a thing as cites till I came in here. I have a birth certificate off them, and if that ain't enough all hell will break loose. I got a crowbar in me car waiting......

It may well have a hatch certificate but the shop who sold you this bird
without the correct cites certification broke the law.

Hand rearing has nothing to do with having to have the cites certificate.
Having the certificate along with a closed ring on is what proves that the
bird is not illegally imported. I have a cites bird here and am not allowed
to pass it on without his certificate. That's the law, plain and simple. Not
only do you need the certificate for scarlet macaws but also scarlet hybrids
too. Go to the DEFRA website and do a little research.
I would be interested to know where you bought it.

I'll let them off - they forgot to give me it, they still have it there and are posting it to me.

However you Ray are an arse, only the pet shop is at fault (and simply a mistake at that). You work for CITES or something? You are worse than the IR.

Bullshit. You expect me to know about CITES? Never heard of them. Why would I even suspect a macaw to be endangered? Anyway it's hand-reared, I would probably have thought twice if it wasn't (possible import).

You are the one who doesn't understand the reason for CITES existing.
