I have an adorable mix, he is tine and full of energy, has reddish
short hair and looks like a little minnie and slinnny lab. But he gets
major TUFTS of hair on his hind legs, which looks light blonde and
messy.

Any suggestions as to make it look better than it is. He is brushed
out, just wierd looking and it makes him uncomfortable.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how weird looking hair would
make a dog uncomfortable. Is it matted? Or is it undercoat that is
not quite ready to come out yet? Or is it that he's uncomfortable
about having it brushed? Some dogs get cottony tufts that are
resistant to brushing out (and it can pull painfully, too). Is that
what you're talking about?

What have you already tried using on him? There are several tools
for brushing and pulling out undercoat, including a coat rake, a
shedding blade, a plain old slicker brush, a pin brush, the
Furminator, and the Mars Coat King.
