The feathers are broken off so close to where they grow out the budgie cant
pull the shaft out for a new one to grow, towel the bird and get a pair of
hemostats and look where the feather shaft is, it will be clear and plastic
looking, get a firm grip on the end and give a quick yank straight out, only
do four or five and wait another 4 to 5 days and pull some more, just make
sure you DO NOT pull a blood feather, they are filled with blood and its
very painfull to a bird if you pinch one of them, they only need to be
pulled if they should break one and its bleeding, the new feathers will
start showing up in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner. Good luck and be carefull.
