The Pigeon - Hello All. There is a copy of The Pigeon by Wendell Levi. It is a must have for anyone starting in pigeons. A reading of this book will provide the starter with enough info to raise pigeons like a pro. IMHO a must have tonyf

Lost Pigeon? - There has been a pigeon hanging around one of my bird feeders for about 3 weeks and today he/she let me get close enough to notice that he/she has these 'bands' around each leg. These 'bands' fit close to the feet, and they are white with black numbers.

another lost pigeon - Apologies to the group for yet another lost bird. I live in and have traced the owner to Wrexham, however, it would appear the owner has either since moved on at that address or died. Is there anyway the owner can still be traced, so we can reunite him

A couple of days ago, I picked up another young pigeon that fell to th
ground under the RR Bridge. It can stand on one leg only. I am using a
water softener box for recovery. I give it water and bird seeds mixed
with dirt. Is there anything else I can do? I am hoping that the pigeon
will recover in 2-3 weeks and I can let it go.

The injured pigeon flew away this morning. It still could not stand on
one leg but it flew real good. All in all, this was a great morning!

Mixed with dirt? What on earth for?
Make sure water is the first priority.
You can buy parakeet grit or oeyster-shell grit, but probably not a
priority
right now. But definitely don't need the dirt.
2-3 weeks sounds logical, but don't know if it will leave after that,
now that it is getting
food and water from you.%^)
If you need anything else, post here.

I use a 12" diameter, 2" deep metal pan and wanted to make the pigeon
feel like it was eating off the ground.

I put water in another 12" diameter, 2" deep metal pan and placed the
pigeon in it as soon as I got it home. It drank for a long time (maybe
four times).

Thanks for the advice but the pigeon took off this morning. It saw some
pigeons circling above and joinde them. It is out of our hands. We hope
for the best but it will be difficult with one leg injured.

I posted about Csapi and Potyi. They are both gone. We see Potyi from
time to time but he is just as shy as the others. Did not see Csapi for
a while. Hope for the best. There is an open field next to a school and
I put some food out there in the mornings but do not stick around to
make friends. Maybe Csapi and Potyi are with them - maybe not.

I just hate to go by that RR Bridge. You never know what you find.
