I took in 4 boys from the big rescue.
We've gotten them out of their travel cages and into regular cages.
We've done a preliminary assesment of their temperments. 2 are
terrified, the other 2 are a bit better behaved. I only took one
bite. We got them taking treats, ferretvite and olive oil. I've made
one pass at petting them while they took a treat. I have a point, a
sable, a chocolate and a DEW. Using the traditional beating on a pan
with a spoon behind the ferret we believe the DEW is deaf.
We believe the boys all have ear mites and they are all filthy. None
of them are ready for the trauma of a bath and getting their ears
cleaned and medicated. I got meds from the vet. We were able to trim
their names after we got their attention on a treat.
It's going to be slow going no matter what.
It's at the ned of the ferret day, the sick ones need their meds,
Draco needs his duck soup, and I need to make one more attempt at
petting these poor guys. They'll come around. These ferrets are
victims of neglect not abuse and will settle in after a few days to a
few weeks.
