we have a wonderful male border collie named Maya who has been
nuetered, obedience trained and is great with our kids. Maya is about
4 years old now and has suffered from some sever seperation anxiety.
We have tried just about everything from buying another dog to keep
him company, walking him and playing frequently, medicine, training
and even putting a 8ft x 5ft x 4ft pen in the basement of our home.

He has over the past years jumped out a 3 story apartment window,
destroyed our garage that had a sofa, radio, tv, fan & toys & has now
started ripping up our new home's basement.

He is starting to shed a ton of hair now due to this anxiety.

I love this dog so much, but it is getting the the point where I just
can't stand to see him this miserable. We are thinking of maybe
giving him to someone who is home most of the time since both my
husband and I are working. We would love to keep him and will try
anything to do that.

Does anyone have any suggestion or know who I could contact?
Thanks

Either you or your husband could *quit* his/her job and stay
home with the dog. That might require a change in your standard
of living, but it *can* be done.

My suggestion would be to take the dog to a "doggy day care"
place. These places provide opportunity for the dog to play
with other dogs and to have human contact. This might be a
bit expensive, but I think it certainly would prevent your
dog's separation anxiety...
