Archived from groups: alt>pets>parrots>misc (more info?)

Hello,

I have a good collection of Parrot photographs and enjoy browsing parrot
photo sites - fascinated with them. The parrot which I find absolutely
breathtakingly beautiful is the Scarlet Macaw, the Blue and Gold Macaw and
the Hyacinth(spelling?)...

One thing which worries me though, is the sheer size and sharpness of their
beaks? I did a little reading and it seems whilst it looks like an
intimidating weapon, it's much less of a threat than a Cockatoo beak? I
have an Umbrella Too, and if his beak can do more damage than a Macaw's, I
sure hope he doesn't take a fancy to any of my body parts. No I know why
Claire hated getting bitten so much.

Anyone here have the unfortunate experience of being bitten by both a Macaw
and a Cockatoo? Care to compare pain and injury levels? Would love to know
for sure...

Ta,

Gary.

I've been bitten by a Grey, an Amazon (blue-fronted) a Macaw (Scarlet), and a Conure (blue crowned).

The Macaw is the worst, then the Amazon, , then the Conure, then the Grey (although I think the grey tends to go weasy on me cause he's very tame).

Are you serious??? birds bite because they are pissed off. Quit agitating
them and leave them alone until the want to be with you. Which IF you are
not a total bird abuser will be really soon.
