hi all, i've owned a lot of dogs over the years but now that my
Buddy (original name, I know) is 4 I really understand why the
people who live with Aussies wouldn't have any other dog buddies.
he is so much smarter than the shepherd-wolf cross i had to put
down a couple of years ago it is amazing. and he talks... but
y'all know about that stuff.
I can't afford health care for myself, much less for him, unless
of course it looked serious. i would eat beans for weeks if i
thought he had a serious medical problem. anyway, over the last
few weeks he has had what looks like a wart appear right below
the center of his lower lip. it started black and turned red and
then a couple of days ago it bled a little. it has stopped now
and looks like it is settling down...
is this something i need to take my buddy to the vet for?
thanks to all and thanks for having this forum here..

Are you posting from a library or a friend's computer?

i resent the implied financial undertone. i didn't come here for a
lecture. i am on social security and my health is not good. Buddy is my
best friend but if he has a serious medical problem paying to go to
the vet is really not an option this week.
please don't lecture me on having a pet i can't afford. he
is the one spark of joy in my life...when i got him i could
afford him but my health has gone downhill and i can't live
without the medication that takes most of my extra income.

Offering alternatives is not lecturing. While I may be abrupt
to the human when it comes to a dog's health, you'll find that
most people on the dog groups consider the well-being of the dog
before they consider that they may be inadvertently offending
the poster.
In my area, a vet check--which would at least give you an idea
as to what you're dealing with--is about the same cost as one
month of internet access.
And please don't email me privately again.

if your vet will see you for $10 i'm moving there...it's $50 here.

in my experience people who don't want email don't make their email
addresses public. don't worry, i won't bother you again.
i'm going to cut back on my blood pressure medicine and see if
the vet will let me make payments...of course my Buddy is more
important to me than internet service, but giving that up
wouldn't do it i'm afraid... i know you are only concerned for
the dog and i apologize for getting too emotional about him...

sorry, i had no way of knowing you only wanted email on that
subject. again i apologize for becoming overly emotional about
my dog's problem but i expect you can understand that and i hope
you will forgive me...
the breeder says the problem is probably just an inflamed follicle
and will likely resolve with a little hydrogen peroxide and carmex.
i CAN make payments to the vet so if it doesn't clear up in a few
days i will take him in. if it is a tumor i will have no real option
but to let him live out his life and love him while i have him...
i hope none of you has to deal with trying to live on Social Security
and Medicare. Put some money away just in case you live longer than
you might have expected. Your retirement pension might not be there
when you need it. The retirement system in the U.S. is a joke; if you
get sick they will take your house and anything else you
own, then hound you for more forever.....

That is certainly not what I wrote. I'm done with you. Good
luck with your dog, though.

is this newsgroup a one man show or are there any other aussie
owners here? Rocky's owner has said he's done with me so i don't
expect him to respond and that's fine with me. is there anybody
else listening or is this just HIS newsgroup?
and i don't WANT a response from you, Rocky('s owner)
