It was a legitimate question. Why do you have dogs? What activities do
you do with them? From what you have posted, it sounds like they are
outdoor dogs who are left to their own devices much of the time. In your
original post, you state you are looking for a dog to "replace" your
Yorkshire Terrier. I don't know any dog lovers who consider dogs
replaceable.

Perhaps it was just an unfortunate word choice, and perhaps, even though
your dogs are banished to the outdoors, you actually take them places and
do activities with them. I suspect not, since you haven't successfully
housetrained the YT, but I digress. If you want the people on this group
to make a breed recommendation, you need to provide more information.
Based on what you have posted so far, the best recommendation I can make is
Gund, or a Beanie Baby.

Sorry, no. You have a lawn ornamment, and you want to add another lawn
ornament. We aren't in the lawn ornament business.

My cement dog is brought in for the winter, for his own protection. He
stays out all spring-fall. His job is to hold a nice flowering plant
during those seasons.

Well, now I feel like a dog-abusing thug. But, my cement dog would
get lonely without his cement bunny nearby, and the cement bunny
really must stay outside. Plus, this year, what's winter?

you've got a point. But I think February may let us have it in
spades, so he's staying in. I don't know if he feels companionship
from the live dogs, but maybe I'll bring in the giant metal ant,
grasshopper and cricket to keep him company.

I'll bet those are banned in most neighborhoods, but I'm certain I could
get away with one of those here!

That brings up an interesting point, all the yorkies I know (all two of
them) are housebroken. So obviously it is possible. Maybe you would
get a better reception on here if you came looking for advice on fixing
the one thing you don't like about your dog. Not what breed you should
replace your outside dog with.

So why don't you housebreak him?

Just because you have read that Yorkies are difficult to housebreak doesn't
make it true. And even difficult dogs can be housebroken. It takes more
effort on your part than an easy dog but it can be done.

What have you tried?

Yep. I've got a cement Foo dog and a smaller cement duck (don't
ask). Both live indoors during the winter.

Diddy asnwered your question a while back. Perhaps you didn't notice?

This is a list of breeds (livestock guardians in general, I believe) Diddy
posted that would probably enjoy or best tolerate living outdoors away from
you most of the time:

" Kommodors, Maremma, Kangal, Tatra Sheepdog, Slovak Tchouvatch,Caucasian
Ovcharka,Castro Laboriero, Akbash are all potential matches. Just give them
a job like herding sheep!"

Would you PLEASE stop spamming the newsgroups by pretending to be someone
