This morning I decided to put a call in to Dr. Stanzione concerning what
I have already written about here. His office promised he would call me
back around 1:00 pm today. No sooner did I hang up the phone, than Zolo
ate, not much, but some, a little, hay. He ate one of the soft fuzzy
tops that comes in first cut hay. We gave him all the meds as
described, including about 35 cc's of Critical Care. He ate
enthusiastically. When I talked with Dr. Stanzione at 1:00, I
described everything I have told you guys, and expressed some of my
concerns, some of your concerns, and a few things that Ronie had
mentioned. Dr. Stanzione actually has a dental xray machine in his
office. Wow! He said for dental x-rays you need six pictures, but he
would go back and look at the x-rays that were already taken. If Zolo
had fractured something below the gum line, it may be painful, but
unlike humans, rabbits' teeth grow forever and the fracture would
eventually grow out.
Ater I hung up the phone, I mixed Critical Care for Zolo's lunch.
Wizard and Jump were begging for food and so was Zolo. I decided, since
I had about a half dozen leaves of kale, that I would feed them that in
the hopes that Zolo would eat something. I was shocked and surprised
and very pleased. I broke some wet kale into small pieces for Zolo and
held it in my hand. The first piece, about a quarter of an inch, went
down the hatch, then the second piece, the third, the fourth, the
fifth. The sixth piece was an inch square. That went down as well.
Then he turned and grabbed what Jump was eating and tore half of it out
of his mouth. Zolo had a little trouble with that larger piece, but I
love the little 2 1/2 pound guy's spirit. I tore up more small pieces
and put them in front of Zolo. I gave Jump and Wizard the stems. All
in all, I think Zolo ate at least the equivalent of two good size kale
leaves. I figured at this point, why stop here. Usually Zolo finishes
up his greens by eating some fresh hay. I dug to the bottom of the
drawer and pulled out the fuzzy tops and soft stems, and indeed he ate
some hay.
Do you think he heard me on the phone and realized if he didn't start
eating, he might have to stay overnight at the doctor's office AGAIN?
LOL. (I think this is the first time I've laughed since Monday night.)
THANKS for all the support. I love you guys. :-D I'll keep you posted!

And we love your wonderful bunny boys too!
It's great that Zolo is starting to feel better. I'm very
relieved.
Give them all some nose rubs from me.
And Zolo: I reckon Prof will give you as much food as you
want right now, so milk it!

Hi,.
One of my friend's rabbit actually got fracture under the gum,
and eventually it grows back, in about 1-3 months.
But those tooth are growing in different shape and speed,
Dr said depends on the level of fracture and also how he uses the tooth
(becoz of the pain).
My friend also noticed he only ate the 2nd cut hay for the first few weeks,
probably the leaves are softer.
They told me that they need to check the gum and tooth occasionally,
to see any infection or over-grown in different shape.
If they may need to trim the tooth.
This is good that he is eating again.
Get well soon, Zolo. Eat more, boy...
Take care, Professor and Magic Brenda.
