Okay, Zip went to 3 days of shows in Kansas and came away with the point
(a single only) all three days. So now he's been out on 3 weekends and
won points all 3 weekends. He has 11 and only needs 4 to finish! Keep
your fingers crossed, 4 days in St. Louis this weekend with at least 2
points each day...

Most definitely! I wish I understood conformation points,
though. (It's been explained to me more than once, but I can't
retain it.)

Thanks for the rundown. That seems to be about what happens in
conformation here, though the actual numbers (dogs entered,
etc.) are probably different.

I've attended plenty of conformation shows in the past, but only
to look at the purty dogs. Since I've gotten some "show" dogs
as daycare clients, I've been cheering them on at local shows
and trying to pay attention to how points are awarded. I boggle
at the permutations and combinations.

Well it's considered far easier to finish a Can Ch than it is to finish
an AKC Ch. I know a lot of people who have Can Ch dogs who would never
be able to finish in the U.S., or who would finish only with a lot more
money/time spent. In Canada, it only takes 10 total points under 3
judges with one of those being a 2 point or more win. Not that I'm
slammin' the CKC or anything, but it is more difficult to finish here
than there. :)

Zipper.....earthdog? - Okay, I know Zipper really can't be an earthdog. After all, he's a Miniature Pinscher. Official dog-ona non grata at any earthdog venue. But boy are they making a mistake. Did the whole 4th of July picnic thing tonight and they have an earthdog ..

Major Zipper Wootness! - The Zipster just got his first Major! So that means that since his show career started (which would be, um, last weekend) he's gotten 4 points and 1 of his majors. He's stepped into the ring 3 times, and has come out with the points twice. It's major...

Zipper playiing "pretty boy," cross fingers please! - For the first time in 4 years, I have a dog going into the breed ring. For the first time ever, I have an actual handler taking said dog into the ring. Zipper is entered in Burlington, IA this weekend (1 or 2 points). Then he goes to Kansas City next...
