Hi Y'all,
Jubal Early has a yeast infection in one of his ears. He has not been
to the Vet and the diagnosis is based on Google and my general knowledge
of yeast infections.
I suspect that the earliest Vet appointment that I can get will be
Tuesday.
I just cleaned his ear with vinegar and water and then used an ear
powder for fungus in ears (in an attempt to dry it) It is called KL ear
powder made by Matra Pet.
I also fed him a couple of spoons of yogurt. I gave him an
acidophilus capsule orally.
I have R-7 Ear Care on hand but opted for vinegar and water assuming
it is a yeast infection.
I realize a yeast infection can indicate many serious conditions. I
am certainly taking him to the Vet. Assuming it is a yeast infection
does anyone have any suggestions what I should or should not do until
the Vet sees him?
Thanks

It sounds like you've pretty much got the bases covered insofar as a
first aid basis goes.

In humans, swimmer's ear, which is a fungus infection, gets a 1:1:1 mix
of vinegar, rubbing alcohol and distilled water to help dry it out.

And of course you know that in human females with a yeast infection, the
plain, unsweetened, active culture yogurt doesn't go down the throat.
Not sure you should be dumping yogurt into a dog's ear, though. Letting
him eat it probably won't do any harm but I don't know if it'll do any
good, either.
