Hi,

I came upon this snake in our yard in Fort Pierce, Fl. It was very
aggressive. Can anyone identify it please?

I found the identity of the snake on the Internet. I had tried earlier, but
missed it I guess. The Eastern Garter snake.

Thanks

Congratulations.. that is a Florida blue garter snake.. And from the
looks of it, a big female.. I would love a few of those beauties..
Aggression is just an act.. totally harmless...except for pooping on ya
when you pick it up.

You mean they won't bite? I used a shovel and moved it out of the yard a
little at a time. After a move, it seemed as if it wanted to come toward me
instead of staying still or moving off. I was surprised.

Oh, they'll bite but it's no big deal. A very light pinch and perhaps
a few pin pricks of blood. The aggression you saw is just a bluff to
try and scare you off.

Too funny. What a defense mechanism.
