No - not habitat.
I caught a Rabid Wolf Spider (identified by scanning through literally
1,000s of images and descriptions on the net!) in my house. My daughter
wanted to keep it, so we got a small herp cage and put some dirt from
my backyard in it. We've been dropping in bugs and, most recently (two
days ago), a small gecko for it to eat.
We've had it for two weeks. Perhaps it was adjusting to its new caged
environment, but until today it was not making any web. Without
seriously disturbing the web and environment, I cannot tell what, if
anything, is wrapped up. Tonight, after much more research, I am
satisfied that it is not an egg sac (that's all I need - fifty
spiderlings running around...). But I'm wondering if the spider didn't
wrap up what was left of the gecko, like for leftovers on the weekend.
Also, last week we put a cricket in. The cricket was feisty and
challenging the spider - a challenge the spider did not accept. We
wound up removing the cricket from the cage and putting in a less
agressive cricket. Ideas on that one? I figured the spider was the more
fearsome creature. It shocked me to see a cricket scare a spider.
