well, several of the members at petrodents.com intentionally mix and cross
wild mice into their fancy strains.. and/or have had fancy mice excape and
mix into the wild mice in the area, they usually don't live long, too easy
for preditors to spot, but the males usually last long enough for a few
breedings with the wild ones...

Yes. Typically they are agouti (wild-type brown) and look more or less
like domestic mice. It's not as exciting as many people seem to think.

Do the hybrids act wild? are they a stronger type of mice?

I can only speak for my own (limited) experience but the ones I had were
very wild, perhaps even wilder than the actual wild mice. The males
could never be handled and would bite; the females eventually got
somewhat tame. Some died relatively young and some lived an average
lifespan, but none were especially long-lived.

from what i've been told, it does vary some, just like all other mice...
the guy i know who currently has a wild cross litter, off a wild female,
says they were very wild for a while, but they are calming down and taming
up a bit after massive handling. i would think that if you used a wild
caught male and a female that was used to being handled it might be easier..
but i know our wild girl is very very skittish, and the mother's habits do
tend to rub off on teh babies...
as for being stronger.. yes ad no, they might be more resistant to some
illnesses, but, you have no idea how inbred they are, or what other problems
they might have. pretty much teh same as any out crossing to an unknown
mouse....
the guy i know doing it at present is a serious breeder and is pretty much
just out crossing right now to keep the lines stable, otherwise he'd have to
do a lot of inbreeding and he'd rather not do that
