My Lab's pups are now 4 weeks and teeth are out, and they are all
healthy. When iis the right time to start giving them solid food and
how much?

While still on the mother you could start offering them wet mooshy puppy
food. They are way to young to wean, but offering them extra is good.
Remember they should not leave their mother until they a over six weeks old,
been wormed and had their first puppy shots. Some breeders keep until second
set of shots around 10 to 16 weeks or so. By this time the puppies have
started house breaking with momma and they have leaned some play bite
control and manners.

All of my pups were weaned by momma at around 6 weeks, she decided pups
teeth were way to sharp. She also had extremely large pups for the size of
the mother. By the time they were 6 weeks they were eating well and growing
nicely as well. That's another thing if your pups are a large breed. You
would want to try using a large breed puppy food so as to not have the pups
grow too fast. All my dogs were medium sized and monitoring growth was much
easier.

Good luck,

Thanks for the advice. I started them on some puppy food last night
(Vet's Choice) and they seem happy on it.
I was planning to wean them slowly over the next 2 weeks and they will
only go to their new owners at about 8 weeks (after their first shots
and deworming)

One has to wonder how can "My Lab's pups are now 4 weeks and teeth are out,
and they are all
>> healthy." be in anyway be gleaned to imply "these pups sound cute"
>> surely any pup is cute????
