Just recently came into possesion of a 40gal corner tank with an all
glass lid. The lid has a lot of deposits on it that are proving
difficult to remove. I kept it wet most of the day with straight
vinegar and the deposits are winning. Any suggestions as to what might
remove them?

Thanks
Brian

Try heavy scrubbing with a warm saltwater solution (8 tablespoons of
salt per gallon of water). Failing this, you could try a cleaner (like
CLR) but be sure to rinse the lid well after use of the cleaner.

Both are great ideas.. Actually I use a slat water solution to remove salt
stains from carpetting in cars/trucks.. I imagine it would work well here
to.. You might be able to use a little hydrocloric acid as well, pool
supply place, or maybe nail polish remover... Everything would need to be
rinsed well, and maybe even a baking soda/water bath to neutralize the acid.
In the case of Hydrocloric acid/nail polish remover, a very well ventilated
area would be best...

Tim..

Thanks for all your responses on this. Will try them all and let you
know which one works.

Stronger acid. Muriatic will do the job. Be sure to do it outside and then
rinse, rinse, rinse some more.

Muratic acid may etch the glass, I have used lime away and CLR to do this.
