Post subject: Update! :)
Archived from groups: alt>pets>mice (more info?)

Well, we got the tower cage set up for the females today (will get pictures
soon, batteries died in camera...) and got everyone moved in.. We put Jerry
and her girls in first, then moved Tom, Peaches, Morty and Squeak in.
We left the boys over in the Critter Trail set up, though right now they're
confined a bit as the tunnels are in the dishwasher..
Then we set down to wacht the introductions.. Everyone seems to be doing
OK.. Peaches and Tom are the only two who haven't gone exploring yet. I
understand Peaches, she's always been a bit shy, and Squeak too, she just
got started exploring. But Tom surprises me.. she's the one who has usually
managed to climb out of the tank and wound up hiding behind the TV or
something... :)
Anyway, while thus observing em all.. we noticed something...
PW isn't female after all!!!
All of our males have definately starting developing visible testes.. (which
I kept getting told wouldn't happen for another few weeks..) so when we
checked them the other day for "last" check before division gave us the
count of 4 females and 6 males... We didn't check PW though as he's so much
smaller then everyone else and we had thought for sure when we'd checked
before that he was actually she.... The little stinker.... But he has
finally started showing his true gender and was quickly fetched up out of
there and put back in with his brother... so, 3 females, and 7 males... oh,
no, momma couldn't have made things easy for us and had more females....
*sigh*
was kind of a pity too.. he'd finally figured out how to get up to the
second level....
But, he is definately familar and able to get around completely in the
Critter trail cages, so don't have to worry about that...
Now we just have to find new homes for 4 of her brothers...
(we do have plans after the holidays to move their cages into the living
room where we've got the trees up now, and building a bigger enclousure for
the boys, too...)

PW update... - today, we watched her climb all the way up the really long vertical tunnel we have on teh Critter Trail 2 from the bottom all the way up to the petting zone/nest area. It was a bit of a scrabble, but she made it! Didn't even give up when one of her..

Update on Quattro - Quattro went to the vet this morning in San Antonio, Texas where I was able to find a great small-rodent vet. He believes that she is not diabetic (she was negative on the ketostix), but rather felt a small growth inside Quattro's belly, which could..

Update on Pipeline - Pipeline is my mouse (from Valdez, Alaska :-) who was accidentally bitten by my cat and was suffering from brain swelling or inner ear trauma. I am SO happy to say that she has improved immensely, she is off the antibiotics and actually walking around..

Baby update!! and deformity question... - Well, it's been just over a week since Jerry had her babies (11-13). We'd guessed that she's had about 8 a few days ago since that was all I could see when I did a quick count last Monday. We decided that it was time to clean her cage today since she'd...
