Snoopy, my 4 year old CAG is getting to be the noisiest creature on the
planet. (s)He's very bright, has a huge vocabulary, complete with many
little interactions but has a nasty habit of spending time trying to make as
much noise as possible from time to time. This can include simple
squalking, high pitched noises, thrashing around the cage.
I don't think it's either lonliness or boredom (toys, and company all day as
I work from home and my wife is currently off too), it's just the bird being
tempermental.
Has anyone had any success reining a bird like this in a bit? Major issues
are that it's embarassing leaving him with friends while on holiday as he
sometimes keeps them awake at night!
Oh, on that note, does anyone know of any places that board Parrots in SE, S
or midlands of england?

What absolute rubbish.

What do you mean by reining? You cannot put reins on a bird.

I do. And I have no problems with normal behaviour like noise either.
All birds make noise. It's what they do. They don't do it to annoy you
or to be temperamental, it is simply being a bird. >> Stay informed about: Training them for some peace and quiet. |

Sorry, molly, didn't realise you'd been drinking (seems to be the case from
that poor effort of a reply), never mind I'll hope for some help from
someone less incapacitated and maybe with a better grasp of the english
language.
Cheers,

How odd. *you* were the one who has little grasp of the English
language as it should be written. And your post was answered to the best
of my ability. The fact that I didn't tell you what you wanted to hear
is not my problem. Incidentally I'm teetotal actually. I have my
morphine to keep me happy, so I don't need booze :0)
The facts remain. Birds don't make a noise to annoy you, they make a
noise simply because they are birds.
Further to your other question, yes I board birds within the area you
specified. I don't charge a penny either. >> Stay informed about: Training them for some peace and quiet. |

Gotta say, that really did get a laugh out of me. I think the cost of that
particular boarding service would be way too high.

<shrug> well you know what you are prepared to pay of course. If
nothing is still too expensive for your bird, then what can I say. >> Stay informed about: Training them for some peace and quiet. |

potty training - weve had a grey for about 3 1/2 years now. he was hand reared and knows no fear. Whilst he will on the whole step up and down on command, we have had difficulty potty training him. Whenever he goes now he says good boy but not always in the right.. |
