I just spoke to my s i l on the phone. Tigger came home this afternoon.
He has special pate type food which must be watered down to a soup and pain
relief tablets to be crushed into his food once his pain relief injection
wears off (tomorrow)
He is managing to lap up the food and he seems quite hungry which is a good
sign, I think. His jaw is wired and he's lost all his teeth from the left
side of his face, most of which are baby teeth but possibly lost one
permanent canine. The vet says he will be "disfigured" but I wasn't able to
find out exactly how or quite what was meant.
He has to go back on Friday to be checked and the wires will come out after
a month. Poor lad will get the snip at the same time he has the wires out
to avoid two anaesthetics.
I was pleasantly surprised by the cost of it. I'd told my brother to expect
300 pounds plus for a Sunday evening emergency consultation and operation
with all the associated costs of surgical nurse coming in off duty,
anaesthetic and each item of equipment for your pet like drip sets, syringes
are all one use only and have to be paid for.
261 pounds. A bargain I call it, to save Charlotte's beloved boy.

Thank you all for your purrs and prayers for young Tigger.

Purring away for Tigger and his slave in training. As for being
disfigured, don't know what that would be. I've know a couple
"disabled" and/or disfigured cats, and while they sure didn't know
they had a problem. The first one who comes to mind is my great aunt's
cat "Tripod" who lost a leg as a kitten when a clothes dryer was being
moved. He surely didn't realize he was handicapped in any way, at
least not until he was about 18 YO and arthritis slowed him down.

Update on Sweetie and Tigger - Just thought I'd give you folks a little closure. First, I'm happy to say that the two of them are living together in relative peace now, and that Tigger is no longer sequestered in the back bedroom. They don't interact much, but that includes not..

Tigger - When my ex-boyfriend Jeff was young, he had a cat named Tigger, a Ritalin-challenged half-Siamese with a loud mouth and energy beyond comprehension. His family was known in our small town for going overboard in spoiling their animals--one dog ate not..

Purrs for Tigger, please? - I got a phone call from my brother tonight. The phone call that I've been expecting. "There's a problem with the cat" "What sort of problem?" "We heard a cat scream outside, he came rushing in bleeding from the mouth and now h...

The new family tabby baby. Tigger - Well. I visited my brother's house today for the first time since Christmas. It's not that I don't love him, I do, but his 3 u/7 children are off the planet behaviour wise and I can only take it now and again. I went to see the kitten, tbhonest. I..

Ok .. another update :) sorry - So, he won't touch the bland food with a 6" stick (too small for a 10' pole). BUT .. if you mix some gravy from his REGULAR treat food into it .. he WILL eat it .. that's what the local 24/7 vet said. He said small amounts of gravy (i.e. very s...
