Archived from groups: alt>pets>dogs>pitbull (more info?)

It's late and I am a little stressed out over Thunder. I know you'll
help me.
Years ago Thunder was around 5 when he first started showing only a one
sign he circled the doorway before I let him out. Now, he needs to
urinate more often, and he is one hungry dog at mealtime. Then, when he
eats Thunder makes an unusual type noise like he is having a hard time
getting it down.
The first time I cried is when I saw Thunder on a Scavenge Hunt in the
Kitchen. It's sad to watch them when this happens. He drinks a lot of
water.
None of those are a problem for me I love doing things for Thunder.
But, tonight Nicole came over and Thunder nipped my baby girl. He also
bit Hb trying to get him to the Vet.
Everybody I know what I need to do he needs to be put to sleep I don't
want to see him suffer. It's just he has so much life in him and the
prettiest white teeth. Rusty has them too.
I have a lot going on in my life Nicole may decide to give me a
granddaughter. I can't trust THUNDER around my kids. My Vet said, we
should and I cried so hard over the phone with Jimmy.
WE play ball but he still has a pot bellied look. He's only nine and I
know he's sick
and that causes aggression.
O-kay as my friends each one of you tell me with a Vote yes or no
should Thunder
be put down.

((((((( Sandra ))))))))) first off you needed that big hug hon. I am so
sorry you are having to make this decision.
Know in your heart that you have given Trouble a wonderful life. It is such
a tough decision for any of us to make. You will know when it is right and
when it is time. Whatever you decide hon I will be here for you and will
fully support your decision. If you need to talk, email me. I will be on
here until surgery on the 10th and then I will have Jack check my mail - he
doesnt know how to get into the group so you will have to mail me, plus he
can update you on things here.

You take care and remember I will be thinking of you and praying for your
peace.

I have to agree with Shanna...if you have to ask you already know. Either
way it doesn't make it any easier. Believe me, I know :-(

Go with Bob's first suggestion..get a second opinion and find out for sure
if it's Cushings. In the meantime, keep him away from the kids for now as
it's better to play it safe than sorry.

If it is, talk at length about the drugs and any temperamental changes that
could change him because of the disease or the drugs.

If it isn't, I would revisit your initial thoughts of putting him down.

It's a tough road, especially when they get older. Just getting older can
turn them cranky and intolerant of children, especially if they are in pain
somewhere.

Good luck to ya girl...we're all behind you
Sandra

A close friend of mine said, "Sandra your eyes have been swollen for
weeks now."
How may I help you? He made me this great cage with a tremendous amount
of room in it.
Thunder's blood check came back 1200 ALP and there is a tumor on
Thunder's side. He will stay with us until it becomes unbearable then I
will let my best friend go. WE will consider Predisone and other meds
and paws crossed and by the grace of God we might get 3 more years. A
Terrier like Thunder's life span is 13 years old.
I love him wih all my heart he has always been there for me when I get
sick. Once I ran a high fever and he never left my side until my fever
broke.
Thank you so much I always knew you all would be there for me that's
makes my day.
Sandra

Definitely the sound of relief there. And it is hard when they get
older...I have a bitch who'll be 12 this year, another one at 9 and my old
stud at 10. My hybrid housecat just turned 16 and I'm wondering how long do
I have left with him.

If the Pred will keep him comfortable for awhile...go for it. Do whatever
means necessary to keep them comfortable...you'll know when they tell you
it's time to let them go.

Just remember to keep in mind the side effects of long term drugs and keep
watch for them. Good Luck with Thunder
