I think I read you're a boxer gal.

Wondering, what criteria you use for choosing a breed?

I know you like minimal grooming.. I'm with you on that. What else do
you hold dear in choosing a dog?

Curious George.. err, Jason

Moderate energy (not high like a border collie or low like an English
Bulldog)
Great with children
Friendly yet protective
Playful
Fast learners (training) or easy trainability
Short coat

That's what I use for breed selectors..or close variations thereof. In real
life, I'm much more drawn to docked breeds because I'm not fond of tails
clearing coffee tables. I like smooth (short) coated, short-snouted breeds
with stocky builds best and breeds that are more human-oriented than
independent. My husband is a Lab lover but we both agree that our
preference is for English-type with stockier builds, square heads and from
our experience and research, they aren't quite as work driven and hyper as
non English-type. I still hate all the hair and the tail but its either
deal with it or get a divorce :)

I liked your qualifications. I am on close to the same page there.
Although I relate to your husband... i have an affinity for labs..
they are just like 4 legged teddy bears. The hair indeed is a factor
for me too.

The funniest part of your reply was the part about the tail cleaning
the coffee table. I mentioned that exact scenerio to a dog lover
friend of mine (she is a rott gal). Told her that was why I was
thinking small dogs.. didn't dawn on me to get a big dog with no tail.
LOL.

Anyway, mystery solved. Thanks! :)
