It wasn't that big a deal, at least not once I figured out good
bandaging technique. She'll look "strange" to me without her beige tube
at the end of her tail!

Some do, some don't. I have bloodstains in my kennel area from
enthusiastic waggers that ended up with partial amputations. (My vet
takes about 2/3 of the tail, so that the end result is too short to be
injured but longer than a docked tail.) There is a school of thought
that greyhound tails act as rudders when they run, so that's why
they're not docked.

I love these things. They clean soap scum from fiberglass tubs like
nothing else, and walls that you think need a fresh coat of paint get
new life. They also work great on mirrors and snot slimed windows (I
follow with a squeegee). I get migraines from scented everything, so
not needing cleaners is not only environmentally beneficial, but also
saves me on migraine meds.

I am afraid to find out what they are made of, though. They work so
well I just don't want to know.

I've met undocked Rotties, and yes, their tails were very much like
Lab tails--nice and thick and padded.

Detract. There's just no way for a tailed dog to kidney bean in the
same way that a docked dog--especially a Boxer--can. And need I say
that a life without kidney beans is unthinkable?

I don't know. They're extremely waggy dogs, and I'd have to think
long and hard before signing up for dealing with potential tail
injuries.

That's Harriet (docked, not cropped). FWIW I prefer their ears
natural, though I wouldn't turn down a cropped Boxer. Docked,
though, is another matter. To me, Boxers just aren't a tailed breed.

> I prefer the look of dobies docked and cropped

Just from a purely aesthetic standpoint, I do, too.

There's a whole lot of personality in that little nubbin.
