Hi Group,
I was wondering if any of you has ever tried these supplements with any
success? I've been giving my pug one of these supplements for about 6 weeks
and I'm not noticing any difference in the amount of shedding. This dog
sheds more than any dog I've ever seen.

Any experience with these products would be greatly appreciated. And if
anyone has any ideas to help with shedding issues, I'd appreciate hearing
them.

TIA,
Brigitte

What breed are you talking about? If this is a heavy-shedder breed or
mix, supplements are a waste of money to stop shedding; the dog is
Supposed to shed. Bad news, eh...? There are ways to manage the
shedding... probably more easily or effectively than you are doing now.

Oops, I went back and reread your post. A Pug. Yep, one of the
all-time top shedders.

Here's what a student of mine does... Works for her... Every AM, she
uses a cat/kitten Zoom Groom (rubber thingie with long, soft fingers),
making circular patterns all over the body and head. This brings dead
hair to the top, where she combs it out with a close-toothed comb or a
softer (kitten) Slicker brush...... going against the direction of
growth, then with the direction of growth. Once the dog is used to it,
it takes maybe 5-7 minutes. Repeat at the other end of the day. She
swears it has reduced the amount of free flying hair tremendously.

And it sure is cheaper than supplements which won't help much.

Hi Jo,
Thanks for the reply. You're right about Pugs, they are horrible shedders.
I have a chow/lab mix that doesn't shed as bad as the Pug. At least with
the chow mix, when she's done shedding, she's done. The Pug's shedding
never changes, it's always heavy.

I'll try what you recommend, see if it helps any.

Thanks,
Brigitte
