Do They Stock up for Winter?

My cats get all the dry food they can eat plus a can of food
each day but they hunt all the time and eat a lot of mice each
day. The oldest one eats the most and hunts the most. When
one of the other cats is careless with what they catch she takes
it away from them and eats it. There must be millions of mice
around here for them to catch as much as they do. They bring
their catch to the house and show me before they eat it. When
I'm not outside they sometimes bring it inside to show me.

Mammal response. We all do it, or at least have a desire to. Cats
probably moreso. We react to less sunshine as a cue to build up winter
fat...os I've heard. Now where are those pop-tarts?

Well, there's no letup yet. I went through a can yesterday and she just
finished off another can today. After her daily sleep-a-thon she gets up and
starts raising a cranky ruckus because the bowl is empty again. She's been a
steady six and half pounds for several years. If I get indications that she
is putting on weight I'll have to have a little talk with my vet. Isis could
be 10 or 11 by now. I won't have a little fattie living with me.
