I have a puppy lab, and i wonder, is it too much if he is 4-5 hours home
alone?

I started leaving Caitlin for that period of time after she was about 6
months old. I'd fill a Kong full of treats and she'd run to her crate and
barely noticed I was leaving... How old is your puppy?

I was fortunate and never had to leave Maggie alone, but I would think
that length of time would be fine if you have prepared for it. Maybe
lots of play time to wear the pup out before you leave, and then frozen
peanut butter inside a Kong to keep the pup busy. Between the two, pup
should sleep a good part of the time you're gone.

dogs sleep for most of the day. If you keep your dog in a crate, with plenty
of toys to chew on and a comfy blanket, he should be just fine. If you don't
keep him in a crate, that's fine too.
