Post subject: Spotting Scope - Celestron C130 Mak
Archived from groups: rec>birds (more info?)

Greetings, folks. I am considering two new hobbies simultaneously -
the one that brings me here, and astronomy. Predictably, I'd like to
find a piece of equipment that can do both reasonably well. The
spotting scope referenced in this post has a focal length of 2000, and
weighs about 10lbs. The one thing that worries me for birding is what
appears to me - from the literature - to be a relatively slow focusing
mechanism.

My general question is if anyone has had any experience with this
particular instrument, or any other spotting scope, and can comment on
their experiences.

Thanks
John
