I run a website www.everylist.com which allows people to post
classifieds in their local community.

Obviously people are going to try to sell pets. Is it legal? Should I
try to find somewhere to post a warning about doing this?

I hope not. If selling and buying pets is illegal, then every pet owner in
the land is going to jail.

Not *every* pet owner. Some are free, others adopted for less than the
actual price of shots and neutering. Some people also take in strays and
ferals.
