Hierarchy?
I don't have any hierarchy on any rec.aquaria group. What are you
talking about?

Wow... I, wow. Doesn't that stink, what with your moderate to heavy use of
the rec.aquaria.* hierarchy? I could never stand wading through all that
chaff without my usenet filters and kill-files...

> How would one go about getting their then?

1. Go to www.download.com, and get the (free) software Xnews.

2. Contact your internet service provider for their Usenet server names

3. Enter those server names into the Xnews setup, and get off of Google.

Google Groups for Usenet is really only ever good as an archive resource,
direct link or not.

I had to hit the refresh button on Thunderbird to see the group listed.
If this does not work drop your nsp should have a procedure for
requesting the carrying of newsgroups.

Yaah. Sorry. Usenet is old. Older than the World Wide Web, even. 27
years old... By modern communication standards, thats downright
neolithic.

Google Groups to me is like a cheap billboard ad, covering up a Venetian
fresco... *shrug* for a young(ish) guy who embraces most technological
changes, I'm old-fashioned about this one online topic. Sorry if the
dated vernacular threw you off.
