Archived from groups: alt>pets>rodents>rats (more info?)

We've just rescued a rat (Marlon). He was in a very sorry state when he
arrived, but has now perked up and nice and clean. He's a male and, I
would guess, about 6 months old - we've had him only a few days. We're
now thinking of getting him a friend. Will Marlon be likely to get along
with a new rat? He's quite lively but very unsure of people. We've just
ordered a new large cage for him, so I'm assuming I would have to
introduce both rats to their new home together.

The new rat would be from a pet shop.

Thanks for any advice.

There's a good page on intros here <http://www.ratz.co.uk/ratintro.html>

(though I'm not a believer in Rescue Remedy!)
