Python Attacks, Swallows Woman
Fri November 21, 2003 11:35 AM ET

RANGAMATI, Bangladesh (Reuters) - A python killed and half-swallowed a woman
in southeastern Bangladesh, police said Friday.
Basanti Tripura, 38, was collecting fruit with a friend in a forest when she
was attacked Tuesday, a police official said. She was swallowed up to her
waist.

The python, believed to have been more than 10 feet long, was killed and the
body retrieved, the official said.

Nearly all wild animals should be treated with respect and considered
dangerous. It's not just snakes.

Humans are a greater threat to humans than any other animal.

why is it that every time a animal eats someone the animal gets more
pity than the person? sounds sick to me!

Because it's not the animal's fault.

The person is the one who screwed up and got a snake they didn't know how to
care for properly. The person is the one who was careless.

A snake is incapable of having any kind of malice toward people. It's
following its natural instincts, especially if a person eaten by a snake
smelled of food, like chickens, or rabbits.

The person does get sympathy from me because I don't want anyone to die of
constriction but I feel bad for the snake too because they were a victim of
improper care.

What the snake would've seen was an animal that looked tasty. No one starts
moaning when people eat other animals, jeez, I had a chicken burger last
night..... but am I more deserving of another animal dying so that I may eat
than a snake is...... no, I don't think so. If a snake ate me, I wouldn't
want the snake killed, cos it's just doing its job, same goes for a tiger, a
polar bear or a shark, even a big gang of really hungry squirrels.
At the end of the day animals will kill to eat, whether it be a mouse, a
sheep or a fruit gathering woman. C'MON THE SNAKES!

I more than agree. BTW, snakes needs meat much more than we do.
In fact, we can live just fine without.

Agreed again. Big snakes are quite rare or even endangered
because of us. I hate to see them killed for any reason.
