Oct 24- A judge slapped a couple in southern Manitoba with fines
totalling $35,000 for operating a puppy mill and prohibited them from
having any animals for 5 years including house pets.

In July 2000 more than 90 dogs were sized from the farm. Some animals
were covered in lice and maggots and had feces=encrsuted matted fur.
Most of the naimls were housed in wire cages in an unvetilated
building.

This was the husband's third conviction. The first time, in 1995, he
was fined $1,000 for keeping 40 dogs in filthy conditions. In 1997 he
was sentenced to 4 months in jail for not providing the necessities
for 130 dogs.

A very sad posting, however it does go on. We lovers of animals find it
difficult to believe, AND, folks do it with their other loved ones,
parents, kids, etc.
