oh yeah! the stinker got her pound of flesh from me! hehe! I'm sitting
here enjoying my new game of Mahjongg when Carlos comes out to the
living room holding Precious. I did my usual check up on her.... nails
looked good, her eyes were bright.... but tired looking.... and she
wasn't as feisty as usual. Considering that she's a beautiful bunny
with spunk at just about 8 years and 10 months old now. She'll be 9 on
August 29th and considering her breed, that's a heck of a life....
Whiskey (her mate) has been gone now a little more than a year now and
it's been kinda hard for her. what concerned me was that when I did her
abdominal check for weird or abnormal abdominal lumps (which I didn't
feel any, her tummy felt normal) and though I didn't feel anything but
the normal mammaries, according to Carlos, she flinched as I reached
her hindquarters. I'm a bit concerned for her. she moves slower but
still pretty normally, considering she's an elderly rabbit. I mean,
heck, the wear and tear that's put on the body, any body, sure,
eventually with age, the person or animal will begin to slow a bit,
right? I checked her teeth and I said softly to her, "sorry sweetie,
momma didn't mean to hurt ya... if you nip me, I probably have it
coming..." and I kissed her head. I thought we were all good. So I
hugged her gently and lay down with her on my chest and then who do you
think comes strutting his stuff? yup, that
"ugly-short-eared-long-tailed-rabbit-of-the-feline-persuasion" comes
right on up and begins to sniff Precious' face... then he begins to
groom her ears! she's sitting on my chest all relaxed! normally, a
bunny would have gotten all up in arms when that feline walks into the
room! especially Precious! tonight was so strange! She just lay there
with me. My daughters' shooed him away and he snorted and huffed off...
so what do you think Miss Precious "huffypants" does? she gets up out
of her comfy-bunny position on my chest where we were snuggling and
turns around (bunny butt in my face) and I can feel her scootching my
shirt up as she's scratching my stomach... it was real brief... I
thought she was just throwing a fit because of the cat and that she'd
settle down and finish watching Chicken Little with us... but no....
she took it a step further... Here, I've been considering the idea of a
belly button piercing... she actually did the job for me!!! She nipped
my bellybutton!!! ever have a rabbit's nose at your waist as she bites
down in absolute indignation over a cat trying to seduce her?? I yipped
in probably as much in surprise as in pain... mostly because it was
funny but also because I didn't expect that from my little fuzzy
princess!!! She has NEVER (and I do repeat) NEVER bitten *anyone* ever
before!! I don't think she'll ever do it again but I think she was
trying to discipline me! I hit a tender spot on her tummy (what would
cause an area near her hindquarters on her tummy to be tender? or is it
possible that it was her back? I had one hand supporting her back while
the other felt her tummy... so I don't know what it was that caused the
problem. Any Ideas???) and the cat was flirting! sheesh! I tell ya
what.... So I'm gonna call the vet to get some advice tomorrow but in
the meantime, does anyone have any idea what may have happened to cause
her to flinch?

FWIW, I suspect it was a love bite.

Perhaps she was also attending to the "flaw" of your belly button.

Bunnies do nibble each other.

As to the flinching, I have no idea.

Maybe it was less a flinch and more a nervous twitch over what she
perceived as someone poking at her.

I hope your Precious girl is okay.

LOL!! She's such a little stinker!!! I love that little darling!

very possible... a love bite? Hmmm... considering that bunnies (and
cats) don't have the ability to pucker... I'm willing to accept that as
a kiss! =)

Flaw? as in that cavern? my "grand canyon" of sorts? ok, I'll buy
that... either that or she was acting as "bunny body piercer" and
trying to give me a head start on that belly piercing... LOL! that is
just way too funny! it's all good though. Hmmm... but flaw? ok, Dr.
Precious... from now on, that'll be her name! *giggle*

So I'm now her big bunny buddy? I'm good with that! I know she's been
real lonely since Whiskey went to the Bridge.... I'm only too happy to
be her "bunny buddy" if that's what makes her feel better!

that's possible. usually she's pretty good about letting me "prod" at
her and she tolerates it pretty good... maybe she was just grumpy
because today she's doing much better! =) she was munching her greens
as if she were starving! Maybe she was mad at me.

Thanks Nona.... She seems to be doing better but I'm not leaving
anything to chance. we all know how how bunnies tend to hide what's
ailing them... so I'm still going to consult with the vet to make sure
that all's well with her. it never hurts. =)
