Thanks for that Rosemary, I took Mater to the Vets as I could no longer
sit by and watch him gasping. When he started to wheeze and grind his
teeth I knew I had made the right decision. Unfortunately I struck an
absolutely horrid Vet who kept referring to Mater as "The Rat" It was
iron will that stopped me from reaching across and slapping the sod !!!
We also had a stand up argument about what was the best way to put
Mater to sleep. I will never, ever go there again. However more
importantly, our wee man slipped away peacefully. I know where he is
and what good company he is in. Our huge Ratty Man family is sadly
down to just 1 now. We won't be getting anymore as I can no longer deal
with the sadness of parting.. however temporary it is... So now we have
just Silber who is really a person in a fur coat. Given half the chance
that little devil would drink anyone under the table :) You cannot
leave any alcohol sitting around with him about.
I find it a real dilemma keeping just one wee Ratty Man when I know they
prefer company. I suppose we will see how things go as Silbers
happiness is paramount.
