Wow, back to this forum after a gap of 5 or 6 years, it's still the
same den of happiness and friendlyness. Ahh well, lucky we're all
thick skinned huh?

Anyway, 6 years ago, I was wondering how to potty train Snoopy, my CAG.
It really reduces the amount of time that he spends out of his cage.
I think I got flamed for it for some reason, but I thought I'd have
another try.

Got any tricks and tips on how to train him to go somewhere more useful
than the floor or his water bowl? Time and effort isn't a problem,
it'd be great to have him in the lounge with us generally, rather than
just occasionally.

Fortunately mine hates to poop in his cage and does a big release in the
morning and later in the day. In between he will do much smaller ones about
every 20 minutes and you can tell when he is ready when he starts to "stoop
down". I always say "Lamont ready to poop" and then place him on the same
small perch and " Lamont wants to poop" .. Then I praise him. I always scold
whn he makes mistake. .. I always use the word poop in all three contexts.
It did not take him more than 1-2 months to catch on. Every once in a while
he makes a mistake but usually not his fault. I can use any perch to place
him on now for his poops.

By the way he would not be caught dead in one of those diapers .. have a
drawer full.
