Post subject: Pooping in House

I have a 3yr old Shih-poo who for some reason has started doing his job in the house. We have had no problems with him in the past. About a week ago he has been getting up in the middle of the nite to do his job on the carpet in living room. There have been no changes in the house or anything that would upset him. I am at my wits end as my husband says he will not have a dog that messes in the house and I am trying to keep the peace between hubby and dog. Any suggestions would be appreciated.[/b]

Take him to the vet and have a workup to make sure nothing is going on.
Take a poop sample

start training him again as if you were housebreaking him. Crate him at
night so he can't do that.

I concur with the previous posts about making sure to rule out a physical
issue - if the dog has been housetrained for the past three years it seems
unlikely there would be a huge change in that unless there is a reason. If
the dog is ruled to be in clean health, you'll need to start over training
as if he's a puppy.
