Post subject: Petsites that do more harm than good.
Archived from groups: talk>politics>animals (more info?)

I'm not talking about this petsite but there are others who do more harm
than good. The Moderators and members are more intent on openly
sneering at the people who are trying to help really sick pets, saying
really rude things , personal remarks, and it doesn't seem to matter if
a person says," but a vet said ...., " they laugh at it and the person
who said it and the whole thread is lost, and so is the person looking
for help. This is allowed on some petsites and it's doing more harm
than good. It's as though these Moderators and members are more concerned
about running their own agendas and trying to run people off the sites
by continually bombarding them until they do. There were some really good
members that have left these sites and what's left is the bunch that ran
them off. So when a person has a sick pet and is looking for a little
direction they go to these sites and there's no one left who knows
anything and the person has to work their way through a bunch of rude
remarks . Ok, the ideal is to say to the person to go and see a vet but
many times they have seen several and are completely lost. I now avoid
pets.ca, thecatsite.com and practical-pet-care.com. And the problem
is that some of the really good sites had hackers - one had a hacker hit
it three times until the site isn't running anymore which unfortunately
just leaves more people going to sites that are more concerned with
running their own agendas than helping the animals. It's too bad when
petsites do more harm than good that there isn't a way to alert people to
this. One looks at a petsite and says, oh, they help animals but from
what I've been reading I'm beginning to wonder if certain petsites do more
harm than good. When an unsuspecting petowner stumbles into something like
this, it's the pet that pays the price .
