Sad morning here. Woke up to a sick bunny, she was okay when I gave them
water at about 11 last night but at 7:30 this morning she had head tilt and
had lost nearly all neurological control. That gal put up a fight, she
didn't want to leave. She passed over to the bridge at about 7:40 this
morning, with me petting her. Twenty minutes before the vet's office opened
and five minutes before I was to leave to take her there.

My 9 y/o DD really touched me with the words, Pete is better now, she isn't
in a sick bunny body anymore, but she's still a bunny.

Pete was a rescue from a pet store about 4 years ago, too young and
underweight. She was never unhealthy but she was never as healthy looking
as my other rabbits. I'm glad that we were able to give her a good home
with lots of love and a wonderful spoiled bunny life.

Here's a note from my 9 y/o DD Laurel...

I know that Pete was a sick bunny girl and I love her very much. I know
what it feels like to have a pet that has gotten sick and died, like Oliver
& Orchid. Did you know that rabbits have six lives? So Pete can choose a
new bunny body, and perhaps Poppy might have some baby bunnies and Pete
might be one of them.

Jessica & Laurel
Molly, Poppy & Gryffin
Pete & Orchid from the bridge
no baby bunnies on the way here...but I u/s where Laurel is coming from with
her hope right now.

Oh Jessica - I am so sorry about Pete. I am glad you were there for her - I
wonder what could have happened so quickly?! I think that some of our pet
store bunnies (like my Snowbelle) just don't have as strong constitutions -
we just don't have as long to love them!

Hugs to you and your family,
Laurie, Jon, Rosie, Patches and from the bridge, Sinbad the Cat and
Snowbelle

<yesterday morning at the apr village entrance to the Rainbow Bridge>

Snowbelle stretched and leaned forward toward the mist at the far end of the
bridge. He couldn't see anything yet; but he knew that Pete would be
arriving soon and he wanted to be ready.

Toofer had told him about Pete late last night. She was to arrive quickly,
and without too much discomfort. For that Snowbelle was grateful. Even
though everybunny was Healed when they arrived at the Bridge, he envied
those who slipped across in their sleep or with little suffering.

As he scanned the mist he saw a small figure beginning to emerge. It was
Pete! She moved slowly, but he could tell that with each step forward she
grew stronger. He smiled, knowing that the magic of the Bridge was already
at work. He moved forward quickly and firmly, beginning to bob and weave in
the way of the Greeting, to let Pete know she was safe, and home.

"Welcome Pete. My name is Snowbelle and I'm here to Greet you on your
arrival at the Bridge. This is the apr village entrance, and I bid you
welcome."

"Why hello Snowbelle." Pete looked around. "I see I *am* at the Bridge,
aren't I? Why, just a few moments ago I lay in my hoomin's arms, and she was
stroking me so gently. My body was acting odd - it wasn't working right. It
was getting hard to breathe. And then I just felt so very tired, and I felt
myself drifting off to sleep..."

"Yes, that is how it happens for us sometimes. We just drift from there to
here. It's sad to leave those we love behind. You had a girl, didn't you?"
asked Snowbelle.

"Oh yes! A very bright and cheerful girl! And sensible. She knew I wasn't
feeling well at all. I think the mother hoomin was worried about her, but I
could tell that she understood that I'd be well after leaving them." Pete
replied. "Will I be able to let them know I'm here? and well?"

Snowbelle nodded sagely and said "We have several ways you can give them
comfort, Pete. We can talk about them as we head toward the meadow."

Just then, Pete gave a shake, and a shimmer of dust fell from her coat, as
she let go the last of her earthly self. Her eyes were bright, her fur thick
and shiny and her legs straight, and strong. She was Healed. And whole.

Snowbelle leaned toward her and whispered "Come with me Pete, I'll show you
my baby clover patch! It's so tasty this early in the morning -- so sweet!
And then you can come meet all the Friends who are a part of our village!"

Pete smiled and nodded saying "Thanks Snowbelle. I'd like that!"

And with that, two fuzzy bunny tails flicked in the air as Snowbelle and
Pete turned and headed over the ridge toward the meadow.

Rest in Peace Pete.

Hi Jessica,

I'm so sorry to hear about Pete. Sounds like she went so fast. It must
have been a shock to you.

Sometimes I think that leaving this world quickly is so much easier on
them, but harder on us left behind.

I'm sure she was comforted that you were there with her.

Take care,

Rhonda

Sorry on your loss of Pete.. My prayers are with you in this time of need.. She
will always be there in your heart and now that she is with the rest of the
other buns, they have more good stories to listen to.. She knew you did the
best for her. She loves you no matter what happened.
