It did Karen. I'm sending purrs and prayers your way. You sound all
worn out and kind of at the end of your rope being the best meowmie
you know how to be. I'm sure someone else who has some experience in
what you're going through will post soon. :)

Purrs,

It did, but I didn't respond because I don't know anything about collapsed
lungs in kitties.

I'm thinking it's something that ought to be handleable. You've sure got
our purrs.

It did. Julie replied to you with her own experience and then a link for
you to check out. Purrs continue for Pearl (and for your nerves!).

Boyfie and KFC are sending their best purrs for Pearl.
I should make more effort to respond, but there is a time difference. Your
afternoon is my bedtime.

I certainly know that collapsed lungs in humans is no fun, having once had
one myself, back in 1989. It was an unexpected side-effect of anesthesia,
and hasn't happened again since then. I was very low on energy for about
a week, until the lung reinflated.

Apparently, it could be that consolidated means it is full of tissue or
other stuff. I'm pretty confused about it all, but she seems to be
doing a bit better the last couple of days. I won't investigate
terribly far. She is already on insulin, flovent and heart meds.
Whatever else may be going on, I am just supporting her. Right now she
seems almost normal, so I just pray she continues to feel well.

This is good news, Karen. We're sending purrs that Pearl continues to

I'm so glad to hear she is looking better. I've been struggling with my
BG the past six months. I know how tired it makes you. And all the other
cr*ppy feelings it brings. My deepest sympathies to Pearl, and to her
worried meowmie, of course.

Yes, I could do that, but being the eco-nut that I am, I don't want to
make that much waste. :o/

Aww, poor little girl. We didn't have these home testers for blood when
I was little. We had to do it with urine, and it was this whole palaver
with a test tube, and you had to use a dropper to put in two drops of
urine and ten drops of water (see, I *still* remember this, after over
30 years), and then you dropped in a reagent tablet and the whole thing
started fizzing like mad. Then it changed colour. If it went blue, your
BG was low, but if it went any orange colour, it was higher (and the
colours were really hard to tell apart, so you could never be quite
sure). It wasn't a very good system, but it was all we had. And it
wasn't very easily portable.

Now that I'm walking down memory lane, I remember the syringes. They
were sturdy things that you cooked once a week to sterilize them, and
then you kept them in this round metal container with a sterilizing
liquid inside, the syringe in the middle and the needles arranged around
it. I'm a bit mad at Mum because she threw them away in a move once.
Those needles were awfully big compared to the itty bitty ones we use
now. I was never scared of being injected, though. The only thing I was
terrified of was having my blood drawn from the inside of my elbow. I
still can't watch when the needle goes in for that.

Oooo. Wow. It's kind of amazing I guess when you think how far it *has*
come. Yeah, I feel bad about all the syringes, but there is no getting
around it for a cat since you do tiny adjustments.
