That's irrelevant, but it may be worth pointing out that
drinking too much water will kill you and consuming too much
arsenic will kill you. The effect is the same, therefore
the two must be the same. Or something.

That's because you still don't understand either capitalism
or socialism. Maybe, perhaps kinda. this really isn't your
topic.

No, it doesn't. It has the services of professional contractors, and
experienced professional framers, electricians, plumbers, etc.
Yes, lots of volunteers work on the home, but they do it under the
supervision and direction of experienced pro's.

Volunteers can definitely do some things, but when your car needs to
be hooked up to a diagnostic test station that costs 20,000 bucks or
so, it's time for the pro's.

Just joshing about the phone calls, but this is a lot of up-front
expenses.
When I was born, even babies didn't get ultrasound, let alone dogs.

Putting up the drywall is EZ. It's taping the joints that takes skill.
My neighbor recently finished his basement, and put up the drywall
himself, but got a handyman to do the taping for him. Turned out well.

Aren't you some sort of engineering type? I had pictured y'll as the
incredibly mechanically inclined types, who could fix a B-1 Bomber
without looking at the manuals (manuals are for sissies, according to
DH). Shattered illusions....

Drywall is tedious, but pretty easy to learn. I got enough info about
it from a free pamphlet at the local Home Depot or Home Base or
whatever to do an adequate job in our house.
The other thing to keep in mind with drywall, is that even if you do
really screw up a section, the materials are cheap enough that you
haven't lost a lot of cash if you end up redoing sections.
Mostly, though, my wife is the handyman in the house. I do the
gardening, yard work, all of the dog chores, plus any of the nasty,
stinky jobs. She does all the finish work, as is pretty darn good at
it.

A porch is not as simple as it looks. I saw it being done wrong and
being done right on my neighbor's house, and got a lot of answers to the
'Why do you have to do that' question.

Based on my recent experience, step 1 is strength training.
I took a few leftover, cut-up boards to the dump. Just
getting them onto and off the truck was a strain. The
drywall contractors carry two at a time and hold them up
(sometimes while standing on a ladder) to be nailed in
place.
The nailing and mudding look straightforward, but who
knows, maybe looks are deceiving....

My original post was not about socialism, as you know. It was about
the economics and responsibilities of breeding, today.
The "socialism" term was just a descriptive term, but you HAD to jump
on it, because it was a "smear" to the honor and beauty of socialism,
and you had to interject stuff about Finland (later only to claim it
was all irrelevant, although in the very same post, you continue to
prattle on about Finland), and communism, and economics 101, and yada,
yada, yada.
Well, was it worth it?
Somehow I think the history and future of socialism have not been
changed, either way.
You're nothing but a troll for socialism/communism, as inconsistent in
your arguments as you are in your conclusions. Your name calling is a
tepid demonstration of your lack of imagination, and integrity. Your
failure to admit even the most basic concept of socialism, strikes
everyone as the mode of a liar and a hypocrite.
You now join THE PUPPY WIZARD, in the killfile. Plonk!

Well, no. I HAD to jump on it because you were (and remain)
incorrect on the facts and I am a nerd.

Everyone? When I want you to speak for me, I'll let you know. No one else

Mudding and taping is an art form. I know plenty of people who
have put in their own drywall but bring in a pro for the taping.
