Hi

I've been lurking on this news group on and off for about a year now but
have only posted a couple of times (which i intend to correct) and have
never really introduced myself.

I have a 15 week old French lop called Dunlop who has a fantastic
personality he's friendly, affectionate, lively and best of all funny with
the occasional bit of naughtiness thrown in for good measure. Now his
personality brings me to a concern I'm having about getting him neutered, I'
m worried neutering will change him and perhaps make him less lively?

I was originally planning to get him neutered at 16 weeks because he's
pooping all over the place despite my best litter training efforts and his
urine is also starting to get a bit whiffy despite frequent litter box
changes. Dunlop has also started to get a little amorous with my cat who he
has tortured quite enough already by simply trying to be friends. He tries
to snuggle with her all the time, follows her constantly and even started
eating her food!

<Hoooooooooge healing vibes to all the poorly bunnies & big waves to the
others and their hoomins>

if you're worried about personality change, don't. having your furniture
free from that hideous urine smell is well worth it. i'm sure your cat will
approve!
LOL

when we had thumper neutered, there was no change in his behaviour. of
course, the first few days after the neuter he was a bit lethargic but was
back to his old self (minus the clusters) in no time.

go for it.......believe me, you won't be sorry.

just be sure your vet is RABBIT SAVY. make sure they are familiar with the
procedure on rabbits. whatever you do, remember to CONTINUE TO FEED HIM
even if the vet's office tells you otherwise. many times the help in the
office is not aware of this. if you live in the states, you can go to the
hrs website and link to the various state chapters for recommendations on
vets.
www.rabbit.org

if you tell us which state you're in, i'm sure someone here can give you the
names of their vets.

hope you decide to post more and my i welcome you officially.

Thank you very much for the replies and the welcomes :o)

I've decided to go ahead (i think) and see if i can get him booked in next
week, much to Mollys relief ;o)

Mixter my vet has worked on my two previous rabbits and is as rabbit savvy
as im going to get around here. I'm in Northern Ireland fwiw.

Carrie, Dunlop hasn't tried showering with me, infact he hasn't ventured
into the bathroom at all for some reason - perhaps my singing puts him off.
Our shower is just a head over the bath anyway so im not sure he'd try to
jump in.

I was expecting that but Dunlop ins't lazy at all, he follows everyone
around the house, runs up and down the stairs, jumps on and off the sofa,
races and binkys around the garden. Perhaps its because he's still young,
was Midnight like this when he was a baby?
