Well there is never "any" dog who could follow in Sable's pawprints, but
after he passed, it just seemed like there was a big empty spot in our
hearts and house.....and we had certain things that we did and did not
like with the large breed dogs...namely table-clearing tails, So Dad and
I compromised. A big dog without a tail....now there aren't too many of
those around and we had met Dukes damm, and she was such a sweet dog,
well bred, well mannered, beautiful disposition, so when the breeder
said they were planning a litter, we put our name on the list. Little
did we know we'd be getting Duke...the clown dog. He is majestic, he is
loving, and has a very goofy scense of humor.
As for Tazz, I love the terrier personality, but now that I'm older and
have arthritus in my hands, I just couldn't keep up with the coat care
that the Schnauzies needed, and it seemed silly to have Schnauzies and
just butcher their coats...so I read my books and did my research and
ended up with the Tazzman. I was only worried about one thing when it
came to the JRT's... the books I had said that some JRT's can be aloof
and not wanting to cuddle, but I was lucky, My Tazz didn't read those
books so he is a little lover dog who likes nothing better than to
snuggle under Mama's chin, lie on my stomach or sleep with me under the
covers....and to all those other dogs who might think he's a woosy
mama's boy, he has a message for you, He can whip your butt with one paw
behind his back....(we don't tell him that HE isn't a Rottweiler)....and
everybody better know that he is the house boss-dog!!
Then came Jake...Jake is a Rottie/Shepherd cross and became the victim
of a nasty divorce. Being just a puppy when the split happened, the male
half of the divorcing pair wanted to just have him put down, but we
couldn't see that happening....so we said we'd take him. He's big...but
slender, Rottie lips and coloring but shepherdish head and muzzle. He is
the bottom dog in our little pack, but very sweet and loving.
I'm working at making a picture site so everyone can see the canine
members of the family and to also show some of the pictures I took on my
awesome Alaskan cruise with my Mom. It is a work in progress right now.
As soon as It's up I'll put up a link.
It's so good to talk to all of you again.
